Derek Anderson Traded to Miami

!9#: Derek Anderson Traded to Miami

Pat Riley proved his dislike of rookies even more when he traded rookie Gerald Fitch to the Rockets today for Derek Anderson.

This trade basically showed how little tolerance the Rockets have. Derek Anderson is a far better player than Gerald Fitch when healthy but Fitch is an able body and can at least play. The Rockets had been trying to trade him for weeks but settled on a rookie averaging 4.7 PPG.

Anderson does fit the role of a Riley team. His veteran perimeter offense could help Miami if he's able. Really this is just the Heat's way of picking up another old player right before the trade deadline (last year it was for Steve Smith). Even if he doesn't work out it won't hurt Miami since they only gave up their 3rd string PG.

Houston brought in Anderson strictly to help out McGrady. After playing only 20 games the Rockets continue to look for a deeper supporting cast for he and Yao. But with that being their biggest move this year it shouldn't make the Rockets a better team.

For the Miami Heat, it will all boil down to the health of Shaq and Wade. The rest of all this trade jargon is just meant to keep pressure off the team.
